#1 – The Blue House

29 croissant Rose, Breckenridge
Mo Laidlaw

My garden’s focus is on trees. A 9-year-old suburban “work in progress”, I’m adding new plantings to existing trees and shrubs on an abandoned pasture, with now 60+ different varieties. A meadow is being encouraged on a dry west-facing slope. Pesticide-free vegetables will be on sale from Marché McMillan (www.marchemcmillan.ca), as well as local arts and crafts.

Getting to The Blue House

Use this link to open a Google Maps window to specify your starting location to see various route options.

Directions from Aylmer:
  • Take route 148 north. About 8 Km from Principale in Aylmer or 5 km from the west end of Boul des Allumettières, turn left (towards river) on ch McKay. (It’s the first turn after ch Lilas, opposite 1574 route 148). Also after Dépanneur Eardley.
  • On McKay, take first right (Rose). My house is at the end on the left, the blue house. Best to turn around and park on Rose. There is room on driveway for a few cars, but will need to reverse out if several cars.
From Shawville, Luskville and points north west:
  • About 3 km from Ghost Hill, the steep hill after Breckenridge Creek, turn right (towards river) on ch McKay, which is the first street on right after Maple (on left). Then as above.
